After a holiday hiatus, GLRR was back on track at the Rat Dome in Lexington for a ladder workout with our fearless chicken leader, Coach Jim.
He put us right through our paces at exactly 7PM after a warm up that included a cameo from Mr. Freihofer himself! My identical twin was back in the GLRR fold tonight for his first track session! Nice to see you back!
We ascended and descended Jacob's Ladder in an orderly fashion with myself leading EJ, Cody, and new member, Matt (non-orange hat) through 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 1200, 800, and back down to earth with a final 400.
From what I understand and been told by Coach, a ladder workout is supposed to simulate race conditions. Go out fast, settle into a steady pace, then finish strong. Check, check, and check.
Splits were:
1:21
2:42
4:11
5:46
4:09
2:41
1:11
The Rat Dome was extra warm and dry tonight, so the tough workout was extra tough. Hardest portion of the workout was definitely the mile, and it didn't help that I misremembered the laps over the final three laps. The water buffalo was extra pissed at me on that one, but hung tough and the boggy (other boggy) stayed right on my six.
Now I know how the girls of Arlington feel with Edski chasing and breathing down my neck for the entire night. We'll have to get a room next time.
(Fear the Buffalo Penguin this Saturday @ Fudgcicle)
Another big GLRR crew tonight including Fil, Glenn, Jess, Liane, The Murphy's, Dane, James, Joe, and the GLRR mini's. Hoping to see Why-vette, Cara, and Lauren next week.

Nice workout. I may have to join you guys one of these days.
Hey your count down timer is off by an hour. The race starts at 10 AM not 9 AM.
There's always room for Phatty (and ice cream) at these workouts.
Thanks for the note on the clock. I must have forgotten to reset for DST.
I think you miscounted your miscounting on the mile, I had 1.11 on my Garmin for that one (which happens to be one exact extra lap)
That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger, or something like that. That last lap on the downhill 800 nearly did kill me though.
