Putting Things Into Perspective

Jan 7th, 2011 - I was looking at my splits from last night's track workout and I came to the sad realization that I'll never be able to break the current Boston Marathon course record of 2:05:52.

My final 400 interval last night was in a blazing 1:11, which equates to a 4:46 per mile pace. I gave everything I had and even left a piece of my sole out on that track.

Well, guess what the average per mile pace of the record Boston Marathon run by Robert Kiprono Cheruiyot in 2010 was?

4:48 per mile over 26.2 MILES!

OK....

So you ARE fast enough for it, just gotta hold that last 25.2 miles.

Correction, hold it for the last 25.97, but that's usually where I cramp up.
